Markham Cycling Day 2025 Event Info
Join us Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Main Street Markham for four annual Markham Cycling Day, hosted by City of Markham. The event is a great way to explore Markham on bicycles with your friends or families. We welcome riders of all ages and abilities to participate in this FREE event. Started in 2008, and led by volunteers from the Cycling & Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Markham Cycling Day continues to attract residents and cyclists from and around Markham.
The event offers free entertainment, light refreshment and activities from various exhibitors.
New Location This Year – Near the Old Town Hall (96 Main Street Markham) at Robinson Street & Main Street Markham.

Tour de Markham Group Rides
Riders will gather and depart from Main Street Markham. Come and try a new route with us this year! We are adding a new route category of 5KM and 8KM for families with children to participate.
Please choose the a Tour Route that is best for your interest, bike type and ability. This is not a race. Route distances are approximate and routesmay subject to change without notice.
All tour rides are self-guided where directional signages will be placed along the routes, as well as route marshals will be located at designated spots. Participants are to download and review routes ahead of the event.

Before the Event: Check Your Bike
- Ensure your brakes, tires, and gears are working properly.
- A working bike bell or horn is required.
- Tires should be properly inflated. If you need a tune-up, visit Markham Cycles Bike Hub before the event.
- Bike trailers are allowed, but please be mindful of space.
- E-bikes that are human-powered or pedal-assist are welcome.
- Motor-assisted e-bikes, balance bikes, and bikes with training wheels are not permitted.
- The ride includes a mix of paved roads, gravel paths, and trail crossings.
Age Requirement
- Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
- Riders under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with good cycling ability who will be responsible for them throughout the ride
One Your Ride: Stay Safe & Follow the Rules
- This is a self-guided ride – review your route and rest stop locations in advance. See event website for details.
- Helmets are mandatory at all times.
- Wear bright or reflective clothing for visibility.
- Follow all traffic rules – stop at signs and lights, and ride on the right side.
- Be predictable – signal your turns and stay aware of others around you.
Stay Hydrated & Weather-Ready
- Bring a filled water bottle – refills are available at the City’s Water Truck before departure.
- Stop by the rest stop for a quick snack and break.
- This is a rain or shine event – dress appropriately for the forecast.
- Don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!
Children Bike Races
Children Bike Races are offered to Age 3 to 5 children this year. Our riders will engage in a race to win a medal or ribbon as they ride down about a 90m course down Main St. Markham.
- All participants must bring a bike in good working condition equipped with bike bell, and wear a helmet during the ride.
- Your bike tires should be properly inflated. If you need help with your bicycle, please visit Markham Cycles Bike Hub before the event.
- Balance bikes or bikes with training wheels are allowed.
- All children participants must have a parent or guardian present during the race.
- Parents are encouraged to support participants, but please be reminded to refrain from interfering during the race.
- Be prepared for an outdoor event by dressing appropriately to allow for comfort and safety.

Races begin at Staging Area, located near Centre Street. (South End of Road Closure)
Getting to the Event & Parking
Please be advised that a section of Main Street Markham will be closed for the event. No vehicle access is allowed between 6AM and 2PM on Main Street Markham between Robinson Street and Centre Street.
Limited parking is available around the event site. We encourage participates to carpool, walk, bike or take transit to get to the event site.
