Agricultural Assessment Study

The City of Markham completed an Agricultural Assessment Study in 2009 as a component of the Growth Management Strategy for the City. The study was completed by Planscape in associated with Regional Analytics over three phases:

  • Phase 1 - provided an agricultural profile for the City, identified issues impacting the agricultural land base and opportunities and constraints.
  • Phase 2 - report identified options for managing ongoing agricultural land uses in Markham within the context of the Provincial Growth Plan.
  • Phase 3 - report provided the City with a recommended local strategy for supporting a long term sustainable agricultural presence in Markham.

Status

Phase 3 report was endorsed by Council on December 1, 2009.
