Yonge-Steeles Corridor Transportation Study

The City of Markham has retained a transportation consultant (GENIVAR) to undertake the Yonge-Steeles Corridor Transportation Study. The objectives of the Study are to address the existing transportation issues and to determine the future transportation vision, transportation strategies and infrastructure to support growth and redevelopment within the proposed Yonge-Steeles Corridor Secondary Plan area. The redevelopment of the proposed Yonge-Steeles Corridor Secondary Plan area requires a comprehensive Transportation Study that will help ensure that redevelopment relies on sustainable modes of travel including walking, cycling, and public transit, resulting in a more balanced and sustainable transportation system.

Will There Be Consultation?

Hearing from the key stakeholders and the public with interest in the Yonge-Steeles corridor is a critical element of this study. As part of this consultation process, meetings with representatives from local municipalities, Regional staff, community residents, businesses, ratepayers associations, developers and other interested parties will be scheduled over the course of the project cycle. We are looking for your input early in the process, so that we can use the information to develop the new transportation vision for the Yonge-Steeles area.
