Board and Committee Vacancies

There are currently vacancies on the following Boards or Committees:

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee is a statutory, arms-length Committee of Council responsible for adjudicating on various Planning Act matters, including minor variances and consents to sever properties, among other duties.

Meetings are held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., approximately 18 meetings per year.
There are up to seven (7) vacancies.
knowledge of the municipal planning process and experience on an adjudicative body preferred.

Doors Open Markham Organizing Committee

The Committee undertakes the planning and implementation of the Doors Open Markham Event.

Meetings are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM.
There are currently up to five (5) vacancies.
Experience in event planning is an asset.

Terms of Reference

Environmental Advisory Committee

The Committee provides advice on environmental policy, planning & sustainability and promotes environmental awareness within the community.

There are currently up to two (2) vacancies on the Committee.
Meetings are held on the Third or fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM.
Knowledge of environmental planning, policy & sustainability is an asset.lk

Box Grove Community Centre Board

The Board is responsible for the operation, management and maintenace of the Box Grove Community Centre.

There are currently up to (3) vacancies on the Board.
Meetings are held bi-monthly on a weekday.
It is preferred that applicants reside in the Box Grove Committee.

Markham Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Committee shall assit Council in improving opportunities for persons with disabilities by promoting the implementation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) in Markham.

Meeting are held the third Monday of the month at 5:00 PM at Markham Civic centre (excluding July and August).
There are currently up to three (3) vacancies on the Committee.

Terms of Reference

Applicants should be a person with a disability or a person with professional or lived experience supporting persons with disabilities.
