Notices
The Ontario Planning Act and Ontario Heritage Act mandate the posting of notices related to the respective Acts. As of July 1, 2024, any municipality without a local newspaper may publish Planning Act notices on their website. Heritage Act notices are permitted to be posted on the City website as of May 3, 2023.
- Zoning By-law and Official Plan Amendment Notices
As per the mandate outlined in Part V of the Planning Act, Council is required to use the City’s website to inform the public of an approved resolution, upon determination regarding whether a revision to the By-law is needed.
These Notices include:
- Notices of Complete Application,
- Public Meetings,
- Passing of a Zoning By-law Amendment, and
- Adoption of an Official Plan Amendment.
- Ontario Heritage Act Notices
Parts IV and V of the Ontario Heritage Act requires municipalities to publish notices regarding designation by-laws and creating heritage districts.
Typical Notices affecting individual properties (Part IV) include:- Intention to Designate a Property,
- Passing a Designation By-law,
- Amending a Designation By-law,
- Passing a By-law Amendment,
- and Repeal of a Designation By-law.
Notices affecting a larger area (Part V) may include:
- Creation of a Heritage Study Area
- Designation of a Heritage Conservation District and District Plan
