Main Street Unionville Precinct Master Plan
The City of Markham has engaged the team of Torti Gallas and Partners Inc., Michael Morrissey and an alliance of independent experts to develop a strategic vision that guides the development and economic vitality of Main Street Unionville over the next few decades. As part of the process, the consulting team held a five-day planning process (charrette) in early June at the Crosby Memorial Arena. The public was free to observe, ask questions and give feedback throughout the event.
The design team identified ten key focus areas starting at Highway 7 and moving north to Toogood Pond. Each focus area was designed and developed to demonstrate realistic improvement opportunities which could be introduced into the village. These include potential redevelopment opportunities through public/private partnerships with the school board, the Conservation Authority, the Arena, and the Curling Club; retail enhancement in the core area, washroom opportunities and entry features at Highway 7.
