Staff Identity and Inclusion Survey
The City of Markham is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and heard. As part of this commitment, we conducted the 2024 Staff Identity and Inclusion Survey—the first of its kind for the City—to better understand the demographics of our workforce and the experiences of staff regarding inclusion and belonging.
Over an eight-week period, employees across all departments were invited to share their perspectives through a confidential survey. The findings from this report provide valuable insights into representation, workplace culture, and areas where we can enhance inclusivity.
This survey was identified as a key action in Markham’s Diversity Action Plan (2022–2027), aligning with the City’s strategic objective to attract, develop, promote, and retain diverse talent. By analyzing employee feedback, we aim to address systemic barriers, implement evidence-based improvements, and ensure our workplace reflects the diversity of the community we serve.
We thank all employees who participated in this survey. Your voices are essential in shaping a more inclusive future at the City of Markham.
