Join us on June 9 (Sunday) at Markham Centre (Birchmount Road & Enterprise Boulevard) for a group bike ride to explore different parts of the City, as well as children races for rides age 3+.

TOUR DE MARKHAM
Tour de Markham is a family-friendly group ride where cyclists travel on a designated bike route to visit different landmarks and communities in Markham. At this year's event, we are offering 3 different rides at 15KM, 30KM and 63KM.
Parents/guardian must accompany riders who are younger than 10 years of age. Children riders must ride on 2-wheel bicycle (i.e training wheels are not permitted). Helmet is required.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Equipment Requirement
- All participants must bring a bike in good working worker equipped with bike bell, and wear a helmet during the ride.
- Your bike tires should be properly inflated. If you need with your bicycle, please visit Markham Cycles Bike Hub or Station Ski & Ride before the event.
- Balance bikes or bikes with training wheels are not permitted.
- Bikes with bike trailers are allowed, please be mindful of space.
Participants must be 16+ or accompanied by an adult
- All participants riding independently must be 16 years of age or older.
- Children or teenager under 16 of age are rquired to ride with an adult who can ensure their safety and has good cycling ability.
Understanding Your Cycling Ability
Whether you are an experienced or new cyclists, it is important to recognize your cycling ability in order to participate in the bike event safely.
Table below provides estimates of speed and time required to complete the group rides. Please note that the rate may vary based on individual speed and experience. For more information on routes, please visit the Markham Cycling Day Website to view cycling routes and directions.
Tours Approximate Average Speed of Riders Estimated Time to Complete Ride 60KM — Experienced 25 km/Hr 2 1/2 to 3 Hours 60KM — Recreational 22 km/Hr
3 to 3 1/2 Hours 30KM — Experienced 18 km/Hr 1 1/2 to 2 Hours 30KM — Recreational 15 km/Hr 2 to 2 1/2 Hours 15KM — Recreational 10 km/Hr 1 1/2 to 2 Hours Follow Route Signs, Obey Traffic Rules & Be Mindful of Pedestrians
- Familize route ahead of time, and follow route signs and/or marshal during the ride.
- Please be aware that you will be riding on variety of surfaces throughout the group rides.This includes pavement, gravel, trails as well as crossing at intersections.
- When travelling on trails, be mindful of pedestrians, recognizing this is a shared route.
Prepared For An Outdoor Event
- This is an outdoor event, please dress appropriately to allow for comfort and safety. Wear layers, proper foot wear and sunglasses as appropriate.
- Should the event be affected or cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen sitatuation, we will send out an e-mail alert as soon as we can.
- Remember to bring a water bottle that can be refilled at main event site and at one of our rest stops along your route. You can find the rest stops locations on the route map.
- If you require additional food during the event, there is an on-site coffee truck (courtesy of Fleets Coffee) at Markham Centre, available for both food and drink purchases.
- Children's Race Hosted by Station Ski and Ride

CHILDREN'S RACES
The popular Children's Races will take place at 10 Aviva Way (Parking Lot). These bike races are for children ages 3 to 10. Parents/guardian must register riders to participant in the races.

- All children participants must have a parent or guardian present during the race.
- Parents are encouraged to support participants, but please be reminded to refrain from interfering during the race.
Be Respectful and Safe
- Listen to instructions before your race.
- Follow the course and volunteer directions, riders must not ride in the opposite directions.
- Participants shall demonstrate courteous behaviour, avoid sudden stops and be respectful of fellow riders and race officials.

- Parking, Transit or Cycle
Parking
Free parking is available at 85 Enterprise Boulevard & 8133 Warden Avenue. Participants can access through Enteprise Boulevard, and walk to main event site. There is NO access to the event site from Birchmount Road.
