Millie, Markham’s Official City Mascot
Introducing Canada’s first municipal mascot, Millie the butterfly!
The City’s goal with Millie is to build connections with families and children as they work to build a life-long relationship with Markham. Millie is the host of our annual award-winning Markham-Milliken Children's Festival and also represents Markham's growth as a municipality. The several colours of Millie's wings are meant to represent the diversity of Markham's residents. Be on the lookout this year for Millie, as they will be attending various City events and programs.
Birthplace: Milliken Mills Park
Favourite Things: Interacting with residents and smelling flowers in Markham’s pollinator gardens.
Known for: Canada’s first municipal mascot and champion of City of Markham programs and services.

Markham Millie
There once was a caterpillar called Millie,
who lived in a town that became a City.
In their home of leaves and trees
they chewed as they pleased,
getting ready for their transformation.
Soon it was time to hang upside down,
so they said goodbye to their little town.
When they awoke, they fluttered and flew,
saw the comforting old and exciting new
of their home in the City of Markham.
After their happy life as a caterpillar ended,
a new one began, even more splendid!
