Markham announces entertainment lineup for Canada Day
MARKHAM, ON - June 19, 2018 – Celebrate Canada Day in Markham! Today, Mayor Frank Scarpitti and the City of Markham’s Canada Day Co-Chairs, Councillor Alex Chiu and Councillor Amanda Collucci, announced the exciting lineup of entertainment that you can expect at Milne Dam Conservation Park on July 1.
“Every day we are reminded of how fortunate we are to live in Canada,” says Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “As the Mayor of Markham, I would like to thank all who make this community work, and all who take great pride in being Canadian, and the moment we stop celebrating that, we do a disservice to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and a disservice to all who have come from every corner of the world for the hope of a better life. Canada Day is an opportunity to come together, to celebrate and to make a statement of how blessed we really are.”
Each year, this signature event draws over 20,000 attendees from Markham, the Greater Toronto Area and across Southern Ontario. From the Citizenship Ceremony, to the sold out Seniors' Luncheon, People’s Parade and celebrations at Milne Dam, this event has something for everyone.
"We are thrilled to see some familiar faces from our 2017 Star Search Markham competition back this year, and in the spotlight for our 2018 Canada Day celebrations," says Canada Day Co-Chair, Councillor Alex Chiu.
"This year is going to be another outstanding event as we celebrate the True North Strong and Free on July 1," says Canada Day Co-Chair, Councillor Amanda Collucci. "It will be a fun day for all ages, and you won't want to miss out!"
