Markham appoints key members to leadership team
MARKHAM, ON – May 6, 2021 – The City of Markham is pleased to introduce several new additions to its senior leadership team in a variety of roles. The new appointments bring with them valuable experience, a proven track record of accomplishment and a focus on innovation. We look forward to our newest leaders starting in their new roles over the next few weeks. We are delighted to announce the following appointments:

Previously serving as the Director of Operations, Morgan Jones has been appointed to the role of Commissioner of Community Services. Commissioner Jones is a seasoned professional having served with the City of Markham in a variety of roles since 1991. He has been a leader in adopting innovation and fostering sustainable practices which has brought recognition to the City of Markham. Well-respected by his colleagues, industry partners, and community stakeholders, Commissioner Jones brings a wealth of experience, a focus on exceptional customer service, strong fiscal management, team building and operational excellence to the role of Commissioner of Community Services.
Joining the City of Markham as Director of Engineering is Frank Clarizio. Mr. Clarizio brings with him over 30 years of development services experience having previously served as Director, Design and Construction, Municipal Infrastructure and Gardiner Expressway Rehabilitation with the City of Toronto. Mr. Clarizio will be responsible for overseeing an Engineering Department that prides itself on innovative thinking and the development and construction of municipal infrastructure focused on sustainability.
Alice Lam rejoins the City of Markham from Metrolinx to serve as Director of Operations. Ms. Lam has a proven track record of accomplishment and has been instrumental in pioneering new innovative technologies to improve our service standards. She had previously served as Senior Manager, Roads, Survey and Utility.
Promoted to the role of Director of Environmental Services is Eddy Wu. Having previously served in the role of Acting Director and prior to that, Manager of Waterworks Operations and Maintenance, Mr. Wu is a well-respected and knowledgeable subject matter expert that is committed to the exceptional delivery of environmental assets and services to residents and businesses in the City of Markham.
In addition, Chief Adam Grant of Markham Fire and Emergency Services will join the Executive Leadership Team and report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
