Show Some Markham Love & Shop Local this holiday season on the new visitmarkham.ca
MARKHAM, ON – December 15, 2020 – As we count down to the holidays, the Destination Markham Corporation (DMC) is proud to announce the launch of visitmarkham.ca – your one-stop-shop for your local holiday shopping needs.
The DMC’s primary purpose is to promote Markham as a remarkable tourism destination. During the pandemic, the DMC has partnered with the City of Markham – including the Markham Small Business Centre and Markham Public Library – to support local hotels, restaurants, small businesses in the hospitality and retail sectors, and launch a City-wide holiday shop local initiative: Show Some Markham Love.
“The holidays are quickly approaching and Markham has everything you need to celebrate the holiday season," said Mayor Frank Scarpitti. "It's never been more important to shop local and support businesses in our community as they face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Show some Markham love this holiday season by visiting our Destination Markham website.”
Show Some Markham Love showcases a variety of restaurants, retail and other offerings. Small businesses are the backbone of Markham’s community, which is known for its exquisite dining experiences, international flavours and unique shopping experiences.

If you are a Markham retailer or restaurant looking to be featured on the Destination Markham website, you can submit your information online.
As we continue to a rise in cases of COVID-19 in our community, it is critically important that we each continue to do our part to keep one another safe. Please stay at home as much as possible and limit close contact to those in your immediate household.
If you are leaving your home to shop for essentials during lockdown, plan ahead:
- Check to see if what you’re looking for can be ordered online from a local business, restaurant or retailer
- If you must go into a store, time your trip during off-peak hours when it will be easier to maintain a safe distance of 2 metres/6 feet from others
- Inquire about curbside pick-up, online ordering or delivery
- Limit the amount of time you spend in stores
- Follow the rules set out by stores, respect occupancy limits and please be patient and kind
- Follow directional arrows and safety signs as these are in place for everyone’s safety
- A face mask or covering is required while in public spaces
- Make sure you know the new regulations required by retailers who remain open during lockdown
- Download the COVID Alert app
