Tour Markham by bike, win prizes and celebrate cycling this summer
MARKHAM, ON – July 8, 2021 – The City of Markham’s Cycling and Pedestrian Advisory Committee invite you to get active, roll out and discover cycling in Markham this summer! From July 9 to August 15, ride your way with Markham Cycling Tours 2021, presented by Aviva.
Enjoy neighbourhood cycling tours, win awesome prizes, pick-up a free Children’s Bicycle Decoration Kit, and get simple bike repairs done for free! Remember to share photos of your riding adventures on social media using #MkmCycling21.
“Cycling is a great way to stay active this summer and the Markham Cycling Tours are a wonderful individual and family activity to experience our beautiful heritage, open spaces and trail systems,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “I encourage residents to get out, explore, and participate in this fun summer program that features augmented reality experiences.”
Take any or all of six cycling tours through local parks, trails as well as urban Markham:
- Milliken Tour (6.7 KM)
- Buttonville Cachet Tour (8.3 KM)
- Berczy-Wismer Park Loop Tour (8.1 KM)
- Thornhill Royal Orchard Tour (7.9 KM)
- Rouge Valley Trail Tour (11 KM)
- Cornell Three Parks Tour (8.5 KM)
Find and scan specially-marked tour signs to unlock augmented reality experiences for a chance to win prizes through the Totally Rad Markham Cycling Tours Giveaway.
Markham residents aged 4 to 12 can pick up a free Children's Bicycle Decoration Kit and show off their decorated bikes on social media using #MkmCycling21! Please pre-register and provide proof of residency for this free kit.
Markham Cycles Pop-Up Community & Bike Repair Booths are back! Drop by various locations on specific dates where the Markham Cycles team will provide complimentary simple repairs and quick fixes.
