Public Use Electric Vehicle Charging Station
In 2014, the transportation sector produced 33% of Markham’s overall greenhouse gas emissions. The City of Markham decided to take an entrepreneurial approach to prioritize local climate mitigation strategies and extend support to residents in making the switch to green technologies.
The City proudly hosts 23 Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for public use across Markham. Level 2 chargers offer full charges to vehicles in 4+ hours. The City worked in partnership with Alectra Energy Services and Natural Resources Canada to deploy 22 Level 2 EV charging stations at local community centres and public areas. Markham Civic Centre also hosts 1 Level 2 EV charging station that is accessible to the public.
These 23 EV charging stations can be found at the following locations:

- Crosby Community Centre (2 EV charging points)
- Markham Museum (2 EV charging points)
- PanAm Centre (4 EV charging points)
- Thornhill Community Centre (4 EV charging points)
- Aaniin Community Centre (4 EV charging points)
- Markham Village Community Centre (2 EV charging points)
- Markham Civic Centre (1 EV charging point)
EV owners who live in Markham or are just passing through can enjoy the convenience of charging their vehicles at any of these locations. Commercial charging rates apply.

Level 3 EV Charging Station for public use
In 2015, the City of Markham became the first municipality in Ontario to host a Level 3 EV charging station, which offered 80% charge in 30 minutes at an affordable price.
Notice: This Level 3 EV charging station is currently broken and removed. There is no timeline for replacement.

- How to Use a Charging Station
To use the High Speed Electric Vehicle Charging Station, users must be a member of the FLOnetwork – one of the largest charging networks in Canada.
Users can sign up for a FLO card (charges apply) or download the free mobile app at the App Store or Google Play.

Level 2 Charging (right station) – provides a full charge in 4+ hours. There is a 4 hour limit
