Tree Species approved for replanting conditions

When a tree permit is issued, often times the City of Markham will require replacement trees to be planted. The number of trees to be replanted is outlined on the permit, also known as Permit Conditions. This permit is issued on the condition that new trees are planted.

What is the City's approved list of tree species?

The City of Markham has created a list of approved tree species that will help increase the diversity of the tree canopy in Markham. The list provides a variety of options regarding size, species, flowers, fruit and fall colour.

The City requires all conditionally planted trees to be from this City-approved list.
