Markham Museum Hosts First Lantern Light Festival Celebrating Lunar New Year
Winter nights come alive at Markham Museum with Lunar Nights: Year of the Dragon Festival. From February 8 to 25, follow the Lantern Trail to take in a mesmerizing array of 20 scenes featuring over 250 colourful lanterns. Festival admission includes interactive activities, including skating, snow showing, Baby Dragon encounter, moon viewing station and more. Visit arts and crafts and small business booths and grab a snack or hot chocolate at one of the food vendors.
You can warm up inside as admission includes entry to all of the Museum’s exhibitions, including the final month of Standing in the Doorway exhibition, celebrating the experiences and contributions of the Chinese community in Markham and York Region.

We are conducting a traffic calming study along Carlton Road between Kennedy Road & McCowan Road. We invite you to share your feedback and ideas at our community engagement meetings.

Lifeguards and Swim Instructors Wanted in Markham – Especially Daytime Staff!
Join our Aquatics staff now!
Markham Recreation is looking for a dynamic team of lifeguards and swim instructors to join our aquatics team this winter. Working in Markham means joining a community of fun-loving aqua enthusiasts.
Aquatic staff perks include:

- Free recreation activity pass — Access to most pay-per-play activities, public swims and skates
- Free Markham fitness membership
- Exclusive discounts on YRT passes and certifications
We’re also looking for staff to fill our daytime shifts. If you’re already lane swimming during the day, why not join our team and get paid for doing something you love. All you need to do is complete our training certification courses. Swim Here Work Here Part 1 & 2 offer everything you need to be certified to work as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Registrants will receive a full credit for both parts if they successfully complete the courses with the City of Markham in the last 12 months and work with us for 50 hours.
