- Important Information for Parents
- Public health guidelines and protocols will be in place, including:
- Screening protocols
- Physical distancing
- Limited number of participants
- Park washrooms are cleansed twice a day with a deep clean taking place once per week
- Pre-registration is required
- In the event of severe weather, the program will be cancelled and participants will be notified by email. Please ensure that your email address is up to date so that you receive notifications.
- Participants are asked to cancel their registration if they cannot attend so a spot can be opened for someone else
- Participants should bring a hat, water, sunscreen and a towel
- Participants should bring their own sun protection and not be shared
- Participants should bring their own water bottle labelled with the participant’s name on it

- Programming and schedule
- Programming has been carefully reviewed and planned to ensure that proper physical distancing and public health protocols can be met.
- Programming will vary by day and time as well as weather conditions and ability of participants.
- What to expect upon arrival at the park
- Refer to the registration confirmation for the meet up spot at the location
- Look for City staff in a red shirt
- Screening staff will greet each participant and conduct a screening questionnaire
- Participant will be guided to the hand sanitizing station pre and post screening and prior to participating in the activity
- Safety
- Screening protocols apply for staff and participants and will be conducted each day:
- Screening questionnaire including COVID-19 screening questions
- Personal contact information may be requested to assist with contact tracing at a later date
- Equipment and supplies will be available for each participants’ personal use during the program.
- Following the program, equipment will be sanitized and single use supplies will be thrown away or given to the participants to take home.
- Maximum 8 participants per program.
- Participants are encourage to maintain good communication by checking emails often to receive the latest updates about your registration

- Parents are required to stay within the program area in case of emergency or washroom requirements.

- How to prepare children for programs
The safety of everyone at the program is our number 1 priority. Please read the following to help your child have a smooth transition back to in-person programs and allow everyone to have a safe and enjoyable program.
- Arrive early on site and show your child the safe spaces in the park
- Tell them about the screening protocols that are in place and what to expect i.e. temperature checks
- Practice proper hand washing at home. When hand washing is not available, practice using hand sanitizers.
- Practice physical distancing. Teach them what is a safe distance and how to follow visual markings when present.
- Teach them what is a face covering or mask and that people are using them to keep clean and safe. Note face masks are not required when physical distancing is possible. Participants are welcome to wear masks if they choose however it is not recommended for physical activities.
- Remind children to avoid touching their own face and encourage them to practice “catching” their cough or sneeze in their elbow
- Remind children to recognize their own personal belongings and to use them when needed. Remind them not to touch other people’s belongings.
- Talk about patience with new routines, environments, and new program instructors
- Encourage them to ask questions and reassure them that safety measures and program leaders are here to keep them safe
