Markham announces appointment to Alectra Board of Directors
MARKHAM, ON – February 12, 2024 – The City of Markham is pleased to announce the appointment of Nadira Singh as the City’s new independent representative on the Alectra Utilities Inc. Board of Directors.
Ms. Singh has more than 15 years of experience in finance, project planning and process transformation, with the majority of her time spent in the power and utilities sector. While Ms. Singh most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Hudson’s Bay Company, she grew her career at Ernst & Young where she supported energy and gas organizations for over 10 years. Following that, she joined Ontario Power Generation (OPG) as vice president of finance, leading the organization’s business planning and reporting functions.
Ms. Singh also has experience as a board member, including three legal entities of OPG. Additionally, she was a member of the board of a not-for-profit organization, the Hammer Band, an entity that provides music lessons to under-privileged students.
Ms. Singh is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Toronto

Ms. Singh assumed her role on the Alectra Board of Directors on January 1, 2024.
Alectra Utilities Inc. serves more than one million homes and businesses in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe area, making it the largest municipally-owned electric utility in Canada, based on the total number of customers served.
