Heritage Reserve Fund
This municipal fund is comprised of monies from cashed heritage letters of credit. Monies collected in the Heritage Reserve Fund are used to provide funding in four general program areas:
- Municipal restoration projects;
- Municipal acquisition of heritage buildings;
- Municipal projects of a heritage communicative nature such as historic plaques and signage; and
- Heritage studies such as heritage conservation district studies.
All projects being considered for financial assistance from this fund must be reviewed by Heritage Markham and approved by Council.
The fund has been used in the past to help prepare heritage conservation district plans, and to fund the Heritage District Entry Signage program.
