We Need Your Feedback: Traffic Calming Study for Main Street Markham
The population of the City of Markham is growing rapidly. As our roads become busier with more pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles, it is important for us to address traffic safety concerns and improve overall community safety.
We are conducting a traffic calming study along Main Street Markham between 16th Avenue and Bullock Drive. We invite you to share your feedback and ideas at our community engagement meetings.
Time: Monday, January 29, 2024 from 6 – 8 PM
Location: Markham Village Community Centre, 6041 Hwy 7, Markham
If you couldn’t make it to the public consultation in person, you could also visit our website for project updates and provide feedback at markham.ca/MainStreetMarkhamSafety.

Update – Safe Community Project Zero
September 2023, Markham Fire and Emergency Services (MFES), together with Enbridge Gas Inc., and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, announced they were working together to improve home safety and bring fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths down to zero.
As part of this, MFES received 594 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero. The alarms are to be distributed to vulnerable residents who are deemed high-risk in Markham – seniors, people with disabilities, or those experiencing financial hardships.
Earlier this month, MFES distributed its first batch of these life-saving devices to selected Markham residents.
